My Oris Aquis Turned Out To Be Fake
Просмотров 137 тыс.4 года назад
I bought three Oris Aquis watches from EBay and all three turned out to be counterfeit. I bought three different color dial Aquis on rubber strap, leather strap and bracelet and was shocked at how close the fake ones are. In this video I try to point out the difference between fake and real one.

    The only way to tell is the font on the authentic oris text the o should be kinda stretched out and the s should thin out at the top and bottom. The other one just has bold text.

    Guys don’t buy watches on secondary market if it’s not some vintage old shit for collection. EVERYTHING relatively new, especially ETA/Silita based have high-end top quality fakes. Every second deal on secondary market is a fake.

    Naw real bracelet you can see more of a polish in the brush , opposed to brush, and the clasp dimensions if you measure are totally off just on camera compared to each other! Then the 13 on the date is crazy with a baby 1 and a giant 3

    So aside from the visual aspect.. What kind of movement is in the fake? How does it compare to the movement in the original - in performance, looks *and* construction?

    • @me33a
      @me33a 4 месяца назад

      This is basic ETA movement with some small cosmetic upgrade from ORIS. Chinese manufactures have a license for ETA/Silita movements. They making OG movements and selling to manufacturers which making fakes. The just making some cosmetic upgrades like in original.

    I don't think it's fake, maybe just the crown came from a different batch or something. And the lug screws, someone took them out and inserted back the wrong way.

      Agreed. He said his AD has tris on the same side as the crown and 2 fkats on the other side. But the fake has 1 rri and 1 flat on each side. That's simple.

    The one common theme with these supposedly fake ORIS watch videos is that the reviewer never says that they sent to watch to ORIS to verify, hell they never even say they took the watch to ORIS AD to have it looked it to verify. They are just looking at minor differences in the known watch and the unknown watch and making claims. I had a buddy buy a fake Rolex that was a "super clone" and even that was so obviously fake, a jeweler spotted it from a mile away. Have it checked by an expert before you make a video with claims based on your own observations.

      You make a good point, but in this particular case I think cubex68 is actually correct about the watch. I own a couple of Oris's myself and I can tell you that the big giveaway here is the bezel grip. On the genuine watch the outer metal grip has the correct angled smooth slope coming from the outer edge of the Ceramic down towards the teeth notches. And the notches themselves are sharply defined. As they should be. Yet you can plainly see that on the fake watch this slope is nowhere near as defined as it is on the genuine watch. Even the notches themselves are nowhere near as defined as on the genuine watch. Come to think of it even the slope of the Ceramic doesn't look right!. Yet those two watches should have identical bezels, which they are plainly not.

    • @jf2mad
      @jf2mad 2 месяца назад

      They are 2 different size watches. Maybe my eyes aren't so great but they look very close, and I can't swear that models of different sizes have exactly the same angles. I've bought a lot of pre-owned Oris watches and the website has always verified them. THAT would be my guiding light. And if I did get a fake, I wouldn't be making a video. I would be homicidal. But he bought THREE fakes and can calm explain the difference?

    I see a lot of comments here, saying that the watch is NOT fake ... Well, IT IS fake! Here's why: - movement spacer is made of plastic ... oris does NOT use plastic spacers on aquis. you can see the plastic spacer around the movement when he tilts the watch in various angles; - movement does not have a caliber printed on it, and all oris movements have a print. this is a sellita sw200-1 movement, it should have stamped "733 26 jew"; - the balance wheel anti-shock. cal 733 from oris (sellita more like) has INCABLOC anti-shock, this movement has the lower quality NOVODIAC; - writing font on the rotor is wrong. "swiss made high mech" is written too thicc (double c's here). the original one has finer writing on the rotor. and that is an actual D letter in the circle! that is not oris LUL. oris don't have a D in the circle ... the ends of the "D" are extended and touch the outer circle on a oris rotor; - the general finish of the movement is too smooth and low quality. the movement bridges seem to be low quality casts. the sellita sw200-1 has a more coarse, but high"-ish" quality finish. you can see some milling marks on the original one. it's like comparing a low end 4r36 movement from seiko to the lowest eta 2824. both have a low quality finish, but the swiss one is obviously of a higher quality. there is an obvious difference in quality finish on this movement compared to an original. once you check high quality photos of cal 733 on the interdawebs, you can see how this sticks out like a sore thumb. more likely, this movement is a chinese copy of a sellita sw200/eta2824. they come in surprisingly close to the real deal; - i can also see some other inconsistencies: on the dial side, the indecies are not that good, and the hands are of low quality, the crown is indeed different, the finishing of the case is low quality (oris brushing has a sheen to it this one does not have), and some other minor stuff; - points for making the screws black tho! cal 733 has black automatic bridge screws, not blue. most fakes i've seen so far have blue screws. This is a high end fake for sure. I can see how one would certainly be fooled if they not had an aquis, or seen one in real life before.

    I find the Laco case look more like a original flieger, while the Stowa case here looks more like from a Seiko 5 or any other modern watch. Small welded on stubs on the side of the cage for the mounting is a nice authentic touch in my eyes

    You also missed the main thing, the ORIS logo on the dial. Notice how it’s more thicker and slightly larger as opposed to the fake, which seems noticeably thinner and spaced slightly further apart. Of course not many would be able to tell even myself if only the fake was held in person. It’s very very scary nowadays to even see Oris timepieces being cloned. Not saying it’s a cheap watch, however it’s at the entry point of Swiss watches so you would suspect clones would be more likely to be found on higher end timepieces such as of course Rolex and mid-high level ones like Omega. The actual Haute Hologerie ones like Patek are even harder to fake but there was a 5711-1a which was scarily close and the dead giveaway was the dial tone/color of the gray-blue, and of course the semi-decorated beveling and such on the back of the watch and the PP stamp on the back also. Another one that shocked many was the white dial Omega SMP300, the latest iteration with the laser etched wave dial, and that was scary. The difference was so subtle, it was the tone of the red markings on the dial yet you wouldn’t be able to distinguish it unless you held both the real and fake, and shockingly the back 8900 movement was like 90% close but of course if you have watchmaker open it, underneath it’s totally noticeable, as it’s very hard to clone and make the 8900 movement with co-axial plus the power reserve of I think it was 60 hours. Insane. Potential buyers please be careful and very very cautious, being a loop if going to a non Omega physical shop such as 3rd party resellers at brick and mortar stores, as sometimes they take in watches but they rarely but can be fooled by certain models by peeps who come to sell or trade their watches. Sorry for the long reply.

    This crackhead should close his channel down. Making false claims is as bad or worse than the actual crime. Also what research or facts you have other than your hunches and why not let everyone know where you got it? This lack of information itself lends to the video being useless and a complete waste of time.
